How to Use Articles to Increase Web Site Traffic!

June 28, 2008

A simple technique to increase web site traffic is using articles.

Just imagine… Hundreds, even thousands, of theme-related sites having one-way links to your site! What would that do for your web site? Would your page rank increase? How much of an increase in web site traffic do you think you would see?

I can tell you from experience that it will blow your mind away. It is truly an amazing and simple strategy for increasing web site traffic, but very few site owners are doing it! Quality articles are in big demand on the web from article directories, webmasters looking for great content, and e-zine publishers. Just one article can spread across the web like wildfire taking your website URL and name along with it!

I am going to provide you with a simple 4-step process that will show you how to use articles to increase web site traffic and explode your online sales. I know many of you are saying, “I can’t write and really don’t have the time”. It is O.K., no one is asking you to become the next Ernest Hemingway, so don’t worry, just relax and follow these simple steps.

If you do, I guarantee you will see results almost overnight. So let’s get started!

RESEARCH

This is vital to writing articles that will be snatched up by all of those people looking for great content to put on their sites and in their e-zines.

It starts by finding keywords that are relevant to your site and searched for around 10,000-20,000 times per month. Keywords that have more searches than that tend to have too much competition from competing sites. Use Overture or another keyword research tool to find keywords and phrases that give us the results mentioned above.

Next, you want to go to Google and type those keywords in to see how many search results you find. Preferably, you want less than 100 million results. The reason for this is when you optimize your article and turn it into a webpage we will be able to get a high ranking to help with traffic. We will get to that later!

Now that you have found the keyword or phrase to build your article around it is time to put it to use.

WRITING THE ARTICLE

You will build the article around the one or two keywords that you have chosen. Do not try to use more than two keywords because it becomes too cumbersome to write the article and optimize it for your web site. Just follow this outline and you will produce attention grabbing articles that leave people wanting more.

1. TITLE - You need to have a catchy title that contains your main keyword. Some directories and webmasters will only display your article by the title. So it needs to grab the reader’s attention and make them want to click on it.

2. INTRODUCTION - This opening sentence or paragraph must draw the reader in and entice them to read the rest of the article. If your opening sentence is weak you will loose their attention and the back button will be all you get!

3. BODY - You need to fill the body with relevant and helpful information that will be of use to the reader. Make the body easy to read. I like to use an outline, but you can use other styles. Just make sure that your paragraphs are not too long and that you keep your focus on the main point of the article.

4. CONCLUSION - Make sure that you close the article strong and let the reader know that the information you have provided is helpful. A strong closing is extremely important to a quality article.

5. RESOURCE BOX - For those of you that don’t know, this is the little box at the end of the article that talks about the author. The resource box is the most important part of the article. This is where your link is, so you need to have a convincing call to action to get them to click. The resource box is the most overlooked part of writing effective articles. Make sure that you make your link live when you submit it to the directories; this is critical and too many people make that mistake.

As a good rule of thumb you need to make the article around 500-1200 words not including the resource box. I have written longer articles, but some directories will not allow you to submit if you go over a certain amount of words, so check with the submission site and make sure your article will work. If it is too long, just make some adjustments to meet the guidelines.

SUBMIT YOUR ARTICLE

In order to get the most use out of your article you will need to submit it to as many relevant article directories and announcement lists as you can. In my opinion, article directories are more important because they will keep your article in their archives for long periods of time. This will give you an incoming link from a high paged rank site. Article announcement lists will not give you the same kind of results because they are short lived. It is beneficial to submit to them, however, for the exposure. The downside to announcement lists is that they do not provide any long term benefits.

There are several article directories on the web but some of the ones I like to use because they are high traffic sites are:

http://www.goarticles.com
http://www.ezinearticles.com
http://www.articlecity.com

There are several more quality directories that you can submit to but these will give you a great start.

UPLOAD YOUR ARTICLE TO YOUR WEB SITE AS A WEB PAGE.

The last thing that I would recommend is to optimize your article for the keyword that you have chosen and upload it to your web site as a web page. This will add quality content to your web site and give your site more search engine “bait”. The ultimate goal is to get targeted traffic by utilizing articles.

There are a couple of things that I would like to recommend that you do when you optimize your article. First, make sure that your keyword density is about 1-3% in your article. If you go much higher than this you could get hit for spamming and that is the last thing you want to happen.

The second tip is to make sure that you build a site map for all of your articles and put it on one of your web sites. This will help lead the search engines to all of your articles and will help you with your rankings.

Using articles is a great way to increase web site traffic and build credibility. Articles will increase the number of incoming links to your site and beef up your profitability. If you follow the steps I laid out for you in this article you will be on your way to increasing your web site traffic. Articles are an inexpensive and very effective way to advertise your site and build credentials on the internet.

So take this guide and go increase your web site traffic!

Research Paper in 60 Minutes

June 27, 2008

Assignments are prepared best when they are given much time and attention, but sometimes time deficit and busy student life require a skill of writing papers very fast. If you know what I mean, this brief guide on writing research papers in emergency regime is for you.

One of the most useful ways of writing research papers of any type is to develop a draft outline of what you have to cover. Let’s assume your research paper deals with advertising, but this topic is too broad, you should narrow it to more specific subject. In this, I advise you to follow the rule of “inverted pyramid”, starting with broad overview of subject and narrowing your focus down to the pyramid’s head, where your specific topic is formulated. For instance, the topic of advertising can be narrowed down to “Advertising techniques of Absolut Company”. In your outline, make a list of general points you want to make and notes or references that can support those points. Your strongest point should be the last in your list.

It is important to gain idea about what your thesis will be. If you don’t have any vision yet, spend some time brainstorming and noting your thoughts. Still, it’s normal to start your research without thesis or to change the thesis in the course of your research: as you learn more, your ideas on the subject change.

When you have a thesis, make sure it is not a mere statement of fact, like “advertising is used to raise brand awareness and sell products to customers”. A good thesis should make a strong claim about something, in the way: “advertising is the most important element in Absolut differentiation and positioning strategy. In its turn, the company changed the meaning of advertising in entire liquor market”. Also, your thesis should not be too broad. For instance, such thesis as “The paper will discuss the effectiveness of radio, TV, and printed advertising and their role in the economy” is too broad for most papers and takes too much time to elaborate.

After you have done developing your draft outline and decided on your thesis, you have to “fill in the blanks”. On this stage, many students stumble since they are used to linear approach to research writing instead of shotgun one. If you are absolutely unfamiliar with your topic, a good method of starting your research is to read good encyclopedia article. This will give you overview of the subject and provide you with good ideas for further studying. Also, pay attention to structure of encyclopedia article. This may provide you with your own ideas as to organizing your presentation. After you gain insight into the topic, the process is easier. To act fast, use search engine to find related info or apply to source that provides you with comprehensive journal and magazine articles, such as Questia (www.questia.com), HighBeam of Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com). Teachers value peer-reviewed articles and scholarly books, and therefore you should pay close attention to them to leave teachers satisfied. Encyclopedias and journal articles should be the first resources you apply to, but you are not advised to use encyclopedia article as the source of your work unless you are required. If you need current figures or specific facts that are extremely difficult to find, use a reliable website. After you collected all the information, you can find some interesting alternative opinions on the subject. Try to find opinions pro and contra discussed point, but don’t forget to site the resources you use. Every time you use a resource, you should refer to it and include it into your bibliography list. What is even more important, you should produce your own opinion on the subject and your own analysis of discussed topic. This is the moment where your paper acquires real academic value. Do not fear of being wrong, the most important thing required from you while you learn is ability to think and analyze, therefore any original analysis is valuable.

Writing is the final stage of your creative process. In writing a paper, constantly refer to your notes, your thesis, and outline.

Written paper should be structured according to standard pattern. Usually, it’s divided in three major blocks: introduction (where you will tell you audience what you are going to tell them), main body (here you will tell them - elaborate your thesis), and conclusion (tell the audience what you told them). That’s the simplest scheme you probably ever met!

In introduction you should start with broad overview of the topic of your research unless indicated otherwise in your assignment. This part should end with clear thesis statement unless required otherwise. This is very important for success of your paper. It is good to divide the main body - the review and discussion block, into several sections. Applying advertising at Absolut, these may include: theoretical overview of advertising in context of marketing communications, background and overview of Absolut Company, advertising mix of Absolut, and analysis of advertising trends in liquor industry. In conclusion, you sum up the main findings of your research and principal points.

After you have completed writing, put your paper aside for some time, refresh your mind, and come back to it a bit later to polish and revise your work. A good thing is to ask someone else to read your paper. He or she would produce fresh ideas and point to some mistakes you didn’t notice. Also, use spelling and grammar checking software, but make your own checking as well. Before you finish, ask yourself is there are flaws in the paper, check it on the following features: if it has transitions between different ideas, if it is choppy or disjointed, if it builds up ideas to the strongest point. Also, make sure that all parts of your paper support your thesis or refer to it. Ask yourself if you gave proper consideration to alternative viewpoints: comprehensive presentation is very important element of good research paper.

Approaching your research in this way, you will let the research process guide the direction of your future paper instead of trying to find relevant things that would match what you need. This approach is much faster and produces far better results for both beginners and those lacking time for writing assignments. As you master this algorithm, you can apply it to more complicated and serious projects.

Compelling Words that Sell With the Magic of Pixie Dust

Compelling Words that Sell With the Magic of Pixie Dust
– (c)2003 By Linda Alexander

This was going to be an article about “power” words and
phrases with “juice,” those “magic” words that will add
punch to your copy and bring thousands of affluent
customers to your doorstep, just waiting to empty their
wallets to call themselves owners of your merchandise.

I knew that topic had been done a hundred times, so I
thought I would have no trouble making a list of words to
share with you. Then about two minutes after I began my
research, I changed the focus of the article. Why? Because
there are no magic words.

Like the IBM commercial where they remind you that there’s
no pixie dust, only qualified consultants, I’m here to
remind you that words are just tools. Petting dogs can
lower your blood pressure: it’s the petting that does it,
not the pet. Similarly, good writing will bring customers
to you, but it’s the writing, not the individual words.

That said, of course you know certain words have been
proven to work. Words like free, buy now, don?t miss out,
etc., are trite *because* they have worked for years in
mail order. But your business may be different. Not every
product benefits from a hard sell. In fact, there are so
many ways of selling, not selling, and everything in
between, that you must keep a list of words that have
worked for YOU, in your job, in your industry, for your
audiences.

Start by looking through some of your more successful
communication pieces: Did a particular memo cause
controversy in your office? Did a sales letter you never
expected to work instead have phenomenal response? Analyze
these items for timing, offer, context, audience, and what
happened before or after the message was sent.

There are a lot of factors that play into the success of a
particular communication. Only after you have figured out a
number of the above variables, should you look at the
individual words you used.

If you can narrow it down at all to a particular headline
that worked, make a note. Keep the headline in a “swipe
file” for the next time you are looking for a successful
headline. Did you use a phrase that angered customers,
perked up your lawyers’ ears, or released a flood of gossip
around the water cooler? Write that one down too, in your
file of phrases NOT to use again. Unless, of course,
angering people is your aim.

Over time your list will build and you too will be able to
write an article about magic words that are proven to bring
you tons of sales overnight.

Writers Turn to the Internet for Support, Friendship and Advice

May 14, 2008

Riding on the fumes of potential, you take pen to paper or
keyboard to monitor. Endless hours of creativity intermingle
with apprehension, but your need to write engulfs your spirit.
You swim high on the waves of excitement and trudge forward
through the waves of doubt. Finally, your manuscript is complete.

Looking back, the process becomes a blur, it’s difficult to
recall the point at which your first draft transformed into your
final draft, but it happened. For a moment, you allow yourself
to be still and bask in the glory of your completed manuscript.
But only for a moment. Now a new process must begin.

As if going from concept to page isn’t enough, the aspiring
writer must now bravely pass his or her cherished manuscript
along for opinion. Opinion is actually too light of a word; the
writer must submit to, and endure the critique. For those faint
at heart, the critique can be a frightening experience, rearing
its ugly head of self-doubt to the highest position. But
ultimately, it’s what makes you stronger, better at your craft,
and prepares you to for the next phase on your quest to
publication.

Family and friends only hinder the critique process. Although
supportive, their opinions are bias and counter productive
unless they are professionals. So where do you turn if you are
not fortunate enough to have a local writing group or personal
mentor in your life? The modern writer turns to the cyber world.

As you make your way through search engines and dodge pop-ups
ads in pursuit of an answer, message boards and writer’s forums
abound. Your ultimate goal, to find that band of brothers and
sisters, bound together in their somewhat solitary pursuit of a
writing career. A nameless group of competitors hooked together
by modems, monitors, keyboards, nicknames, and electricity,
generously willing to share advice. A group you can trust.

I have found such a writer’s haven. A speakeasy filled with
poets and prophets, editors, agents and journalists. A space
where the published and unpublished exist together. By
invitation only, I secretly found the backdoor into this cyber
club. Over two hundred members and growing strong, this forum
has everything from professional guest visitors to idle chatter.
A place to receive feedback on your work, ask questions, share
information, make contacts, friendships and share your successes
and defeats.

Now that the secret code to this cyber club has been lifted,
Backspace - The Writer’s Place is open to the public. Why not
click open the door and lurk for awhile? After you get to know
the posters, reach out for some feedback on your work. Then you
can move to the next phase with confidence. For after the
dreaded critique process, you must endure another hurdle, the
query letter. Why not tackle it with the help of your new cyber
friends at Backspace? http://www.bksp.org/index.shtm

Make More Money in Five Minutes Than Most People Make All Day

April 22, 2008

Make More Money in Five Minutes Than Most People Make All Day!

FIVE MINUTES … Is All You Need ……..to phone a friend …..
peel potatoes for dinner ….. pick the kids up from school
….. or write a few words that could earn you anything from a
plastic pinny or ballpoint pen, to a dream house in the sun, a
top-of-the-range sports car, or huge sums of money in cash and
luxury goods!

Even if just a few minutes a day is all you can spare, you can
still be a well-respected, regularly published writer.

No special skills are required, you definitely don’t need a
computer or word processor, a telephone or desk. And you
certainly do not need lots of spare time ….. because you are
about to enter the fascinating world of …..

THE FIVE MINUTE WRITER!

Short written pieces are in great demand all over the world, by
editors and publishers, alongside other high-paying clients,
both to fill space where a feature falls short of the published
page, hence ‘filler’, and to lighten otherwise staid
publications, such as medical journals and import/export
bulletins.

Five minute writing covers far more enjoyable and profitable
projects than most people appreciate ….. taking just minutes
to produce ….. and covering everything from readers’ letters
and fillers, to mini-articles, puzzles and quizzes, recipes and
household hints, photographs and cartoons, to greetings card
verses, competition slogans, and much, much more besides.

That’s why five minute writing is considered the very best way
to begin and develop a successful writing career, and why many
established and very well-paid writers stay with this profitable
medium, plus:

- It’s very satisfying to see your work and name in print and
the earlier that happens the sooner you become a professional
writer, and the smoother the road becomes to longer, more
profitable writing assignments.

- Smaller pieces gets you known to editors who, having seen and
enjoyed your work, are more likely to commission you for longer
pieces later.

- Word for word, rewards are far higher than for almost any
other type of written projects, with the possible exception of
creating winning slogans and tie-breakers for big-prize
competitions. (Don’t worry, How to Be a Five Minute Writer
includes a free guide to writing competitions tie-breakers and
slogans).

- No rejection slips, ever! What better start to a full-time
writing career?

- Finished pieces can be completed in minutes and spread over
whatever time the writer can spare between other professional
and domestic activities. Great for mother or carer, or otherwise
housebound or restricted individual with a desire to write, but
little time to spare.

- No bulky equipment and research materials required, meaning
you can write, any time, any place, anywhere. A notepad and pen
is all you really need to get started on this amazing journey to
becoming a well-paid writer.

- Fillers can be fitted between longer writing or non-writing
assignments, offering a change of ‘scenery’ and more
frequent financial rewards.

- Every single piece you write can be recycled in columns,
articles, even full-length best-selling books, and can continue
earning high rewards over months, years, perhaps forever.

It’s not a case of ‘cheap and cheerful’ for those who
publish your work - they need you - to increase interest in
their publications, reduce reading times, multiply circulation
rates, and cut their overheads.

For that they’ll reward you well, and continue doing so, perhaps
for the lifetime of your mutual existence!

Oh, So That’s How You Spell It!

Regardless of what you’ve been told, spelling does matter. This
little guide puts the most commonly misspelled words at your

come across during my years teaching. My bear in the woods is
the word “separate.” For some reason I keep wanting to stick an
“e” in there. (sigh) Oh, by the way, the most often misspelled
word is……misspell!
