Check-and-Call Checklist

March 5, 2010

poker players continually hear that a tight aggressive style is best to play at most tables. The act of calling a poker raise is criticized, with many pundits advising that it’s better to raise instead of call. If the hand is worth calling, it’s worth raising is the prevailing thought. Aggression does win pots, but sometimes one has to temper their actions according to the board texture and other players. There are instances where first checking a hand, then calling a bet are appropriate and can finish to a win. Here a some of those situations: * When you are up against overly aggressive, unpredictable players. These types do bluff, and the best way to take chips off them is to call their raises rather than raising in front of them, which could chase them away. Keep them in the pot and let them be in charge of betting when you have a decent hand. * When you have a drawing hand with enough outs to create good pot odds. Perhaps you are on the flush draw, with nine outs giving you slightlyl better than 5-1 odds. The pot is already more than five times the bet, so you’ve got the pot odds to call. * If you sense your poker online opponent is weak against your strong hand, then call the bet instead of raising with the goal of getting your opponent to put another bet into the pot on the river. * You’ve hit the nuts, so slow play it. Keep every player you can in the pot. Don’t scare away anyone.

Buying Blinds

January 28, 2010

Buying up blinds is a great way to stay alive during a streak of dry cards when you play poker online. If you’re getting dealt bad hand after bad hand, buying up a blind or two will get you a free round of betting and allow you to patiently (or not) wait for some big cards to come your way. It takes a bit more than a gusty raise before the flop to buy up a few rounds. You need to know who’s playing, what cards your poker opponents play, and how your opponents play them.

The best time to try to buy up some blinds is when it’s just the big and small blind in the hand. The fewer opponents there are in the hand, the less likely it is that you’ll be called. How do the blinds play? If they’re tight or passive opponents, then it’s probably a good time to bluff. Loose opponents are more likely to play, since they’ll find a wider range of cards appealing, and aggressive opponents put you at risk for being re-raised, since they have a tendency to bet big when they like their hands. Knowing your opponents is a great way to maximize your chances of successfully buying blinds at the casino.

Hand Analysis: 3-Six

January 8, 2010

At one of the local cash pokergames I attend regularly, many online poker players love to get involve with the 3 6, suited or unsuited, partially in homage to Memphis rap group Three Six Mafia, but also for the thrill of shanking their friends with one of the surliest looking hands in poker. Though there are certainly worse poker online hands you could pick out of the deck to stick your money in onthree six can still flop straights and weird combinations of pairsgetting hung up on ritualistically playing small connective hands like this every time has both good and bad effects. When you play it for the right odds, it can pay you off pretty well when you hit big against someone, but you have to know when to lay it down. Sticking too hard to hands with sentimental value, especially low connector cards like this, can eat up your stack if you aren’t careful and measured about it. Make sure the odds are at least close to nice for you to call, and that your opponents have chips for you to snatch up when you do hit large. Too often you see people playing weird hands when their opponents’ stacks are just hardly even worth nabbing.

A High Pocket Pair and Two Players

November 10, 2009

There are very few situations where you want to play poker hands like AA or KK slowly. At a full table it’s extremely dangerous not to open raise or reraise a pot with them since these hands are what you would call heads up hands. They perform better and make more profit when you’re heads up against an opponent.

Now, knowing this, why is it that so many online poker players will forget to slow play them against an opponent when they’re playing heads-up?

I was in a SnG recently and I had this player who rarely raised preflop. I was stealing his blinds left and right. But everytime he’d reraise me, he’d have a high pocket pair and would show me. AA, KK, QQ. And he wondered why he never got a call.

See, here are the dynamics of heads up play. One, the play will naturally be looser. When a player hits a high pair on an uncoordinated flop, he’s going to neglect to think his kicker matters at all in most situations. And because of this, you can string out your winnings by slow playing your big pairs.

You get AA and your opponent calls. Just check. The flop comes, and your opponent bets out pot. You call. Same for the turn. And unless you have a really good read or the board is getting scary on the Turn, you lead out on the river.

If your opponent is a thinking opponent, then he’ll see it one of two ways. Either you’re trying to steal, or you’re betting a hand you hit on a later street (which is hopefully lower than the pair he hit on the flop). And he’ll call you down. If not, and he just folds. You’ve just gained 2-3 half pot bets you wouldn’t have gained if you were to lead out strong with your pocket pair.

The only time I can see you wanting to reraise a raise heads-up with a big pocket pair is when your opponent grossly overbets. This is usually a sign of a small pocket pair, and he’s racing against you with only 2 outs if he calls. Keep this in mind when you visit a casino online.

Don’t Let Poker Advice Lock You down

October 21, 2009

There are literally thousands of places to get poker advice out there. Poker on TV, poker books by just about every pro on the scene, online poker forums, even this very article itself: it’s all a series of inputs designed to improve your game. Some of the articles may disagree, and some may argue for different approaches, but in the end even just thinking about the game outside the game is good for the poker mind.

When it comes time to sit down at the casino table, though, the discerning player should forget all of those words, and just play. Basketball players who spend hours and hours every day working on their jumpshot don’t linger in that zone when they are in the moment. The practice is meant to filter into the muscles, and in the mind, and be there ready for you to fall into it like a second nature.

Therefore, using the numbers, using the jargon, and all the rest of it in whole should be taken with a grain of salt. Thinking too hard about theory and how you are “supposed to play” is secondary to the motion and feel of the game in progress. Come to the table ready to be in the moment, not in the book.

Change with Time

When a person in hales the electronic cigarette device, the flow of the air is detected by an inbuilt sensor which intern activates a heating element which enables the nicotine solution that is contained in the mouthpiece to be released as vapor.

These vapor that is released from the mouth piece is the one that is the end product that is inhaled by the smoker. At the tip of the electronic cigarette, the is type of led that is activated when an inhale is made and in turn it produces a glowing sensation that resembles an actual burning jut like that of the traditional tobacco products The electronic cigarettes has releasable parts such as the rechargeable battery, mouth piece which is also known as cartridge。the heating element or the atomizer, the nicotine solution etc. he ultrasonic technology that was used on the first electronic cigarette in china is still pending in the rest of the world. Therefore what is used on most of these cigarettes is just a heating element that that is an altered design of the ultrasonic technology. For the rechargeable battery, there is a USB device that comes with the package which allows the user to either charge it in the car, in the office or even in a restaurant.

The mouthpiece comes in form of a disposable plastic cup, which is strategically fixed on one end of the tube. It is the inside of this mouth piece that the flavored narcotic liquid solution is found. The narcotic solution is always releasable once it gets finished.

Online Poker Bluffing

March 27, 2009

I always find that bluffing in online poker, and detecting bluffs, is a strange proposition unlike at the casino. Many poker players who considers themselves masters at the art of calling bluffs do so because they can spot a player’s “tell”; maybe they scratch their nose when they’re bluffing, or shift in their seat, or play with their chips in a certain way. Some tells can even be more obscure, such as in the famous poker movie Rounders, where the Russian’s tell was when he ate his Oreo cookie in a different way.

However, when playing online it is impossible to see your opponent, what he is doing, how he is breathing or moving around. Some might say that online allows lesser players to bluff more easily, because they can avoid the harsh staredown from the players sitting across from them.

However, the only thing you can effectively use to tell if a player is bluffing online is the size of their bets. This makes bluff detecting more scientific, rather than about feel. You can keep detailed records on players you are playing against about how much they bet or raise and whether they had a hand or not.

Certainly, most people will not go to those lengths to determine if someone is bluffing. In the end, you can use the same thing you would use to spot a bluff if you were sitting at a table: your gut instincts.

Perfect Ideas for Your Wedding: Wish Lanterns

February 4, 2009

Often it’s very hard to think of something original and new to add to a wedding day to try and make it stand out from others. It’s nice to have an event to symbolize love between the bride and groom, yet fireworks are used to regularly that it’s nice to do something slightly more out of the ordinary. Thai Lanterns are a new product that has received a significant amount of interest from people about to get married, as well as wedding planners looking to add something new to their options for someones big day.A great idea for a wedding day is to give each guest one sky lantern, and then organise to release them all at the same time. When this is done it creates a spectacular display of floating lights in the sky, as well as being completely silent, which can be good if there are elderly or very young guests who may not appreciate the loudness of normal fireworks.Sky Lanterns are originally used in Asia to celebrate differing landmarks, and there are many myths that they can bring the person who releases them good luck or grant them a wish. For those planning a wedding it is also very reassuring that the sky lanterns are very safe, much safer than normal fireworks, and also very easy to use.The paper used to make the wish lanterns is also completely bio-degradable so you need not worry about where they are going to land.In the UK one company that had huge success selling them throughout late 2008 was http://www.wishlantern.co.uk

Absolutely fantastic SUVs to win at european windeprijsvraag.nl online this week

October 4, 2008

Really anyone can win terrific tools now every 9 hours even if you live in Monroe Louisiana or in Battle Creek Michigan, isn’t that super. Internet sweepstakes are mostly much more easygoing and much more faster to enter than funny online contests. Actions advertised as online game contests, still, can necessitate an entry fee or manifest of buy. Many more contest websites are choose up to enter online sweepstakes. 3 months ago also a European dutch online company has started with a online contest and is also legally differently.

Fun websites are toughened much more indifferently than the people who win who are not chosen by chance but by an element of skill. That’s why there are great surfboards to be won at contest website and cyber sweepstakes this quarter. Entering easy sweepstakes by mail is turning down in popularity at this present. Online sweepstakes and online actions are proscribed from needing a purchase to enter. Its fantastic to win MP3-players worth 9012 euro and that easy. Sweepstakes are also legally different from the online contests in Kent Washington.

The Dangers of Pokey Poker Play

September 3, 2008

Many Texas Holdem poker players have experienced the situation where their starting hand connects to the flop so perfectly that they are almost guaranteed to have the best hand at the time. Unfortunately some of these players thinking their hand will remain unbeatable, will give opponents with lesser holdings opportunities to catch up unnecessarily. The texture of the flop is important in deciding how to play a big hand. Let’s say we raise pre-flop with pocket nines and get two callers. The flop comes T-9-5 with two spades. Aside from one of the other online poker players holding pocket tens, you’re likely to have the best hand at this point. Many players, thinking their strong hand is worth “slow-playing” will check trying to get in a check-raise when one of the other players bets. The biggest problem with this strategy comes in when the other players decide to check behind you and then the jack of spades falls on the turn. Now anyone with spades in their hand has a flush, and there are a lot of possible holdings that would make a straight as well. All of a sudden your “monster” hand doesn’t look so good. If you had bet out on the flop you might have been able to win the pot outright, or at least not given possible drawing hands a free card. Don’t be afraid to bet out with a strong hand. Winning a small poker pot is much better than letting an opponent catch up for free and losing the hand unnecessarily.
