How To Create An Original Melody

February 28, 2009

Here’s a method I use that works. First, sit down at your piano or keyboard and just improvise. I suggest improvising first because music that is created in this way is at its freshest. It’s not adulterated or thought up. It is pure inspiration.

Now, there will come times during improvisation where you may say to yourself, “this is nice and I’d like to develop it.” You see, now you have an original melody to develop.

The trick is you don’t need a lot of material to begin with. JUST TWO BARS IS ENOUGH to start you on your way. I usually work within 8-bar phrases so I know that the melody will usually end or repeat itself after 8-bars. I say usually because sometimes, the melody does not want to fit nice and neat into a predefined 8-bar phrase. But more times than not, the 8-bar phrase will serve you well

Now, to be able to grow the initial 2-bars of inspired melody into 8, you can either harmonize the melody with a few chords or just write out the rest of the melody as it comes. Once I have the first 2-bars, I usually have already identified what Key the piece will be in.

It then becomes a matter of choosing a few chords from the Key and the rest of the material is easily flushed out into 8-bars. In the piece “Rainforest,” I use 2 chords for an entire 8-bar phrase ( 4-bars for G Maj. and 4 for E-minor) and improvise the melody on top.

A Closer Look at Image Resolution

February 26, 2009

Image resolution refers to the size your image appears on a computer monitor rather than the physical dimensions an image will print. The pixel dimensions of an image identify the resolution. Many digital cameras let us change image resolution. So, before we take a picture, we must determine the quality of an image first by using the highest quality setting available on the camera. Therefore, set your camera for the best image quality if you want to obtain high quality photos.

According to the article “Image Quality - An Explanation” by Julian Foster which was posted at www3.teleplex.net, a truly high-resolution digital photo can be anywhere from 12MB (for a 4-by-5-inch image) to 70MB (for a two-page-spread photo). The CD ROM photo collections currently on the market have files ranging in size from 500K-22MB. He added that image resolution, the amount of information in a digital file, is measured in dots per inch. Screen frequency, the density of the lines of dots used to print a continuous-tone photograph, is measured in lines per inch. Newspapers typically use a coarse line screen of 85 lpi; in-house publications, 100 to 120 lpi; and glossy magazines & good quality offset lithography, 133 to 155 lpi.

Proper resolution is truly important for good printing. And to achieve this, you must always remember some rules that include the following: the text must be 400dpi at the final size in the layout; the images must be 300dpi at the final size in the layout; the dimensions of the resolution and size are inversely proportional to each other so, if you enlarge an image, you lower its resolution and if you reduce an image, you increase its resolution; how an image is originally acquired will determine its resolution and thus, the size it can print at for clear and crisp printing; and low resolution images print with jagged edges and appear fuzzy.

Indeed, when deciding on the print size of your image, you must choose a size that is appropriate to the resolution of the image you are supplying. The size to which your image can be printed without a loss in quality depends on the resolution of your image. Remember that the higher the resolution of your image is, the better the quality of the image when printed.

Most digital cameras allow you to select a combination of resolution and quality from the settings menu. In order to obtain an optimal print out, you must set your digital camera at the highest possible resolution and quality. Always remember that the higher the quality, the larger the image file will become. So folks, make sure you have sufficient room on the memory card!

How To Quadruple Your Website Sales In Under 10 Hours

Practically every webmaster I come across could easily
increase his web sales. Some could generate ten times
the sales with only a few hours work. Yet, most seem
oblivious to what they *need* to do to make this happen.
They just plod along without implementing this one simple
change, and expecting to miraculously start making a lot
more sales from their website.

What is this one thing that practically any webmaster
can do - today - to dramatically increase the conversions
he gets from his website? Learn to write better copy!

I know, you’re saying, “I knew that Willie, but writing
copy is hard.”

I’ve talked to some very high paid copywriters, and I’ve
read what many more had to say. I own complete copywriting
workshops on audio and videotape. They all say the same
thing. To learn to write good copy, you merely practice
writing it. Some actually teach that you take a winning
sales letter or ad, and you write it out over and over. In
the process of writing good copy over and over - perhaps
hundreds of times, you begin to get a feel for the flow.
Soon you see the patterns. Soon the things that the
high-priced copywriters are doing begin to jump out at you.

This is the secret to doing a lot of things by the
way. Repetition is the mother of mastery. So you develop
or copy a system, and then you do it the same way, over and
over again. Soon it becomes a part of you. That’s how I have
practiced karate for over 20 years, and that’s how you
master copywriting. Let someone who is doing what you
want to learn to do - show you, and then practice over and
over again until their system is your.

There are some basics that are universals in good
copywriting though that I’ll cover here. For what I don’t
over in this short article, I am going to refer you to a
system that I recommend to all of my private coaching
clients. It breaks things down for you into a simple, easy
to follow, 32-step, time-tested system.

One of the things you must remember in all of your
copywriting is to focus on benefits to your buyer
rather than product features. Make a list of every
feature that you can think of, and then take every
item on that list and turn it into a benefit. So, for
example, “available for download in PDF format” becomes
“instant delivery so that you can use these killer
techniques within minutes.” Do that with every feature.
Turn it into a benefit that the customer *cares* about.

Many copywriters teach that people respond better to
moving away from pain than they do to moving towards
pleasure. So your copy should make the prospect acutely
aware of the pain he is in. For example, point out that
without website visitors, nobody sees his website, and
he just sits and waits, with absolutely no sales. Then
go on to point out how your product solves that problem
for him.

Notice I said “to him.” What I mean there is that your
copy needs to read as if you are speaking directly to
the reader. You are not writing for an audience of many.
It’s individuals that make decisions and you must
communicate with the individual. It may help to imagine
that individual sitting across from you. Some copywriters
actually have a photo of their ideal prospect hanging on
the wall across from them as they works. This keeps
them focused on “who” they are “talking” to.

Have a guarantee that embodies complete risk reversal.
All of the risk of the transaction should be on you. Your
prospect should feel that there is no way he can loose.
I do this with a full, one year, no-questions-asked,
money-back guarantee. That conveys that you know your
product is good enough that it will deliver tremendous value.
You should convey that if you don’t deliver, you demand that
the customer ask for his money back, and he gets to keep the
bonuses or gets something extra for his trouble.

With guarantees, also avoid time-frames that are too
short. If you only give your customer 2 weeks to
decide whether or not he likes your software, he will
quickly decide that he probably doesn’t. If he’s like
me, he probably downloads it into a folder on his
computer and may not even get to look at it in those
two weeks. Give you customer time to feel ownership
of the product and to see the benefit of using it.

Alex Mandossian teaches that you should also “teach your
prospect to consume the product.” You can do this with
follow-up emails that point out how to get the most
out of the software, or some type of training. If the
customer is using and benefiting from your product, he
is going to keep it!

Use testimonials. Having someone else say how great
your product is adds tremendous credibility. Having
someone “just like your prospect” saying how great your
product is shows your prospect that he too can benefit
from it. Use testimonials from someone your prospect
can relate to as well as testimonials from recognized
experts or authorities.

Make it incredibly easy for your prospect to place
his order. This means giving them as many options as
practical. Don’t force them to jump through hoops to
place an order, because they want. Instead, accept as
many forms of payment as possible, and give them as
many different ways of submitting the order as possible.

A big pet peeve of mine is the hidden price. I believe
that you should put the price right on the front page.
My testing indicates that hiding the price or making
customers click through to the order form to locate the
price decreases conversions.

Issue a clear call to action. Tell the customer
exactly how to order. For example, if you want him
to click on the link and use your secure order form
tell him that. If you want him to print out the
order form, fill it in, sign it, and fax it to you,
tell him that. Don’t make them guess what they
need to do. People like to be told/reassured that they
are doing it correctly.

The other thing you seldom see discussed is “the offer.”
You literally want to make the customer an offer that
he would be crazy to refuse. This is a delicate balance
though. If you make the offer too good, then the customer
wonders why it’s so good. For example, if you offer too
many bonuses, that conveys to many customers that the
basic product must not have much merit on its own. If
you offer too many bonuses, it also sometimes conveys
that the bonuses must be junk. Otherwise, why would
you be “giving away” so many valuable items? So, use good
judgment in crafting your offer.

We’ve just touched upon a few things that you need to
consider in revising your web copy. If your website
is getting traffic every day but nobody is buying, then
obviously the copy needs some work. If you don’t work on
your copy, your results aren’t going to improve. Yes,
it is work, but not it hard work. It’s just practice and
testing. After while it even becomes fun to see if you
can improve on your “control.”

Bob Serling, one of the greatest copywriters I have
studied has an excellent course on web copywriting.
It’s one of the few that I have studied that is devoted
exclusively to web copywriting. Most copywriting
course I have taken are written for people in the offline,
direct marketing industry. Bob’s book focuses on what
works on the web. I use it in writing the copy for all
of the new sites I create and for sites I revise. Get
Bob Serling’s Book, “Power Copywriting For The Internet”
at: http://PowerCopywritingForTheInternetByBobSerling.Com

Practicing your copywriting is undoubtedly the greatest
investment you can make in your web business. Until your
site is set up to convert visitors into buyers, it’s
somewhat futile to spend a lot of time driving traffic to
it. Spend some time this week practicing your copywriting.
It’s what I will be doing :-)

Green Bay’s Lindquist Machine Shows ROI with ETO ERP Leader

February 23, 2009

Located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Lindquist Machine Corporation (LMC) builds custom machines for U.S. and international customers. For over 50 years LMC has been solving customers’ problems in industries such as food, printing, paper, film, construction, and power tools.

LMC started the implementation process at the beginning of January 2005. After a four-month implementation, LNC went live with Encompix on May 1, 2005.

Although it is still early days Joe Zimmer, CFO, is looking forward to big improvements. “We expect a significant reduction in paperwork and to streamline our office processes. Our goal is to reduce the office lead time from 10 days to 2-3 days. Encompix will also provide us with greater visibility of job status and provide clear assembly instructions to production staff. We are confident that we will meet our objective of ROI within 24 months, hopefully sooner.”

In January 2000 LMC embarked on a Lean journey so it was essential that the new ERP system supported these initiatives. “Our goal is to work towards World Class Manufacturing. We want to eliminate 95% of internal transactions and automate 95% of external transactions. Before Encompix we were running at about 25%, with Encompix we expect a big leap forward to 70%,” said Zimmer.

According to ETO Institute (www.etoinstitute.org) spokesperson, Thomas R. Cutler, “Encompix continues to take the leadership role in technology solutions for the Engineer-to-Order manufacturing sector.”

Encompix (www.encompix.com) has filled the manufacturing software requirements of Engineer-to-Order companies since 1992. The company name reflects the commitment to developing business application solutions that encompass the complex areas of project-based and job-based manufacturing. Encompix provides ETO manufacturers with a competitive advantage by improving bottom line results.

Accurate Pre-Neolithic Calendars

February 22, 2009

Braden is quite wrong when he says the initiations to this knowledge began about two thousand years ago. I think that is when some people emboldened by the earlier Pythagorean partial inclusion of the knowledge into Therapeutae systems like the Essenes, started to study it and write something about it. However, the prohibition on sharing this information which is said to have still been a matter of summary execution in the time of Plato, probably started ten thousand years earlier.

Pre-Neolithic Calendars:

The Ishango or other aboriginal message sticks from places like Australia and Africa are not easily comprehended by us in the present. The tools of forensics and hard sciences are not always possible for each author or scholar to fully comprehend but they are great evidences, and I thank god we have them. The megaliths and stelae or other Neolithic Libraries are the subject of serious investigation again. The list of proofs for trans-oceanic travel in the pre-Christian era would take a full book (at least) if only four lines were devoted to each point. The great seafarers of Atlantis or these early colonizers from the Brotherhood deserve to be studied and we can learn a great deal from how they ran their government or society. Unless you wish to take the alien intervention route of ‘easy answers’ to explain the various things we are discussing, you will have to keep working to understand why Empire and women-hating was so important to those wishing domination and control, as the appropriate means of governance.

I will quote Alexander Marshack shortly, his great work on an ancient lunar calendar is just another item that fits my long held perception, that we know so little and assume far too much stupidity for or about our forbears. Frank Parise wrote a reference book on all known calendrical systems a couple of decades ago. It is totally unbiased and lists the facts as they are known. In it he says the Mayan calendar starts at 3114 BC. In any event he lists it various parts from that time forward. I have heard it was prepared in 3564 BC. It certainly is very old and would have taken someone or a culture a long time to get to the point of this highly complex prophetic calendar that was as astronomically correct as early 20th Century calendars.

When Marshack wrote about the Le Placard baton in 1991 he was erring on the side of conservatism by saying it was from at least 15,000 BC. I have seen it dated as old as 35,000 years and the ‘norm’ for its provenance seems to be 30,000 years old. It is an accurate lunar calendar once thought to be mere ‘notation’ and it took twenty years of detailed analysis for Marshack to prove what it really was. In this quote he seems not to know about other things such as the origin of agriculture and language that we have covered. I guess it is hard for ‘experts’ to keep up to date on all the different fields or disciplines. One other real possibility is that he didn’t wish to go against conventional scholarship and the Sumerian or Bible Narrative origin of language and agriculture. Maybe it was his publisher or some other agency that convinced him not to rock the boat.
It is hard to imagine he did not know the work done at the Franchithi Caves that shows HYBRID grains before the Fertile Crescent ordinary grain harvests. Here we have the quote from his book The Roots of Civilization.

“… the unravelling occurred at precisely the moment that young archaeologists in Europe and the United States had begun to publish arguments that notations could not possibly have existed in the Ice Age and that the microscopic method could not be used to ascertain notation. I summarize the ‘decoding’ since it was not dependent on microscopic cross-sectional analysis of single marks but on a determination of the changing strategies involved in a complex sequence of visual, symbolic, problem-solving….

Remember also that this baton was engraved some 5,000 years before agriculture formally ‘began’ in the Fertile Crescent of the Middle East and some 10,000 years before the formal ‘beginning’ of writing… “(2)

It is not easy to go against the forces of intellectual lethargy and worse that are backed by tenured professors. We see Marshack putting quotes around ‘began’ and ‘beginning’ and wonder if he knew better. Often the funding for research dries up when something threatening to the paradigm is being discovered. He also wisely addresses the mental processes of Neanderthal and we open another debate.

“By the Mousterian period, Neanderthal man, for instance, was not only engaged in complex adaptation to his environment, but was also engaged in complex ceremony and rite. By the Upper Paleolithic, modern ‘Homo Sapiens’ was capable of representational art and notation. This combined late evidence {He avoids the Berekhat Ram figurine dated to 400,000 years ago which we have covered. In 2004 they have found beaded art at least one fourth that old and claim it is 30,000 years older than the previously thought to be oldest art.} would seem to indicate that quite early the evolving hominid must have had some means of communication or ‘language’, a capacity and skill that evolved as part of the increasingly complex way of life and culture he was structuring. But how much language, and to say what at each stage, has not yet begun to be investigated. It was certainly more complex than can be deduced by analogy and from studies of the primates. In our efforts to understand the notations we must make the effort.” (3)

I say the notations were the forerunner of Ogham which incorporated the ritual and spiritual chant as well as the obvious sign languages that must have come first. Ogham is a sign language of the hands and knuckles; it is evident by looking at the simple diagrams of it. It also had healing and divinatory roots that make up at least 64 different tracts not to mention the 5 dialects. Modern scholars do not know how the quipas of Peru kept poetry on ropes with knots that are reminiscent of Ogham and knuckles. But, when one considers the ‘me-too think’ that is evident in schooling it is no wonder. There were early 20th Century scholars who still promoted Locke’s ‘Tabula Rasa’. Locke said no animal could think or communicate and that this is what separated man from beast at some point in his development. This, of course, dovetailed rather nicely with the Bible and the Babel story. Even Marshack is not mentioning Koko the gorilla or Kansai the chimp. They both know more English and grammar than many seven year olds.

The historians who made us believe the human was a cave dweller who beat women over the head with clubs are still quoted as having something to offer. Almost all Western academia is still infected by the Ussher born gradualistic ascendance through a ‘god-guided’ Christian entity that somehow created ’sins and demons’ and only had one true representative on earth. The scholars in the Church or the accompanying hegemony who developed the Scale of Nature needed to provide their missionaries and mercenaries with justification to destroy all life and art they found. The Incans and Mayans suffered mightily to see their culture destroyed and yet knew it was coming before it happened. It took the Pope until 1524 to decide if the North American Indian even had a soul as crude as the Hottentot. Needless to say who they had at the top of this evil Scale or Chain of Ascended Being; it was that person who was the Lord’s only representative. The same one that liked Cosmas Indicopleustas making all the heavens revolve around him in the Flat Earth theory.

Maybe I am wrong to think there has been an organized and well thought out conspiracy from the moment of the Treaty of Tordesillas and Columbus’ first invasion. Maybe Manifest Destiny is not the kind of rationale that the elite have used against natives and average people throughout history. Probably I do over-emphasize the Hegelian ‘play both ends against the middle’ whenever I see people like Moses being all things to all people. But it certainly deserves serious consideration if one is to learn enough from history to stop these things from happening. I am certain that animals have a soul and the ability to think and communicate. Yogi Ramacharaka of the Yogic Society of Chicago wrote some excellent books at the beginning of the 20th Century in which he said domesticated animals are at a higher spiritual level than many humans living in poverty. In the end I wonder about the soul of Churchians who limit the spirit and awareness of the soul for all their ‘flock’! Jesus said, ‘We are all the children of God’ and God must have people fulfilling his PURPOSE of harmonization here on earth. We all must think and choose for ourselves as we learn from our soul and all the potential of it and humanity - we must not be ‘fool - owers’!

“It was the first thought of prehistorians involved in the late nineteenth-century debate of science against the church that the newly discovered evidence of prehistoric art and ceremony revealed an evolution of man’s ’spiritual’ and ‘religious’ side, as opposed to his developing ‘practical’ or ‘aggressive’ side as indicated by the tools. This philosophic division of man into two or three parts was an attempt to save his unique ’spiritual’ place at the top of the ladder of creation. Man, the argument went, may have ascended biologically during his evolution, but once near the top he had been given, or he had achieved, a ’soul’.” (4)

And you know who the interpreters for this entity that gave us a soul were, don’t you? Marshack goes on to discuss the scientific and other contributions of Father Teilhard de Chardin, which rocked Catholicism. I am very much in agreement with the ‘templates’ of Teilhardism and the need for a ‘Conspiracy of Love’ which he called for, in great earnestness. His influence can be seen in Jean Houston’s Jumptime. This qualitative Intelligent Design is at the root of all my dedication to writing a new history for man to build proper models of behaviour upon.

So I hope I have established enough of the fundamentals for the reader to see the ‘notation’ and symbols on dolmen, menhir, megalith and stelae or other Neolithic Libraries has a lot to offer us; in seeing how we developed as spiritual beings in a long and fruitful growth, we must return to the bosom of. One of the most important aspects is reflected in the degrees of a circle or mapping system that Bradley said academics have ‘no apparent reason’ for the fact of its existence. It is harmonic and it was understood by the builders of the Great Pyramid.

Leaflet Distribution a Effective Way to Promote Your Company throughout the Economic down Turn. How to Beat the Gloom

February 21, 2009

Using leaflet distribution services are some of the best means to gain that xfactor over your competitors. How? Direct Mailing is the answer. By employing a prolonged leaflet distribution campaign you can accomplish maximum
exposure via the letterbox. Its a very over looked advertising scheme which turns out very good, that is ofcourse is using leaflet distributors

If your product is fashioned to appeal to a doorto-door market and you want to focalize on a really special area, door to door advertising is a good, affordable way of achieving your direct market.

But aware in the preparation of your leaflet distribution promotion as this is key if you are to make the best of your investment.

Leaflet distribution allows you to return specified reply from directed groups of clients. It’s a particularly
useful instrument for small business organisations because it lets you to direct reasonable resources where they are most likely to bring on result and measure the success of promotions accurately by examining responses. Just remember that the outcomes of leaflet distributoin aren’t assured. A poorly projected or aimed campaign will be a waste of hard earned cash

There are a number of other methods in which leaflet distribution has been utilised in a political capacity. Several of these reasons are as follows. One of the most familiar practices of brochure drops is to provide people with data to return data that has been delivered by the opposition. The booklets can also be applied to threaten people with an attack. This is particularly probably in fights in which ground forces can inform foe troops that they will invade if no action is taken. The leaflets in war situations are often used to encourage the opposition to surrender and if how to go about surrendering without facilitating a retaliation.

If you have decided that a leaflet distribution will be a effective form of promoting in order to bring in some much required future clientele, then you need to set about the chore of choosing the most acceptable business to conduct the promotion for you.

On That Poin there are alot of elements to be considered when doing this, these are significant in getting the strongest effects from your distribution.

You need to think where you are going to target your booklets and the coverage and penetration that you want to attain. If you are just thinking of a conservative distribution in the localised region, it may be prudent to select a smaller local business who just handle the smaller distributions in one region. They are quite probably to be cost effective, and have shorter lead times. Accountability may be a problem if matters do not go according to plan, so this requires to be counted against the amount of financial expenditure.

Gym Workouts Made Easy!

February 17, 2009

Sometimes I hate going to the gym. I get there and have no idea what machine I should be using and for how long. Then after figuring out what to do, I often feel like I have accomplished nothing. I don’t know about other people, but actually getting to the gym is hard enough, so I wanted to find a way to have a meaningful gym workout that was easy to follow.

After a few searches online, some talks with friends, and even a session with a personal trainer at the gym, I finally combined a routine that works. My gym workouts have actually proven successful for me. First off I start every workout with at least 20 minutes of cardio. On a good day I can maybe get in 40 minutes, but I tell myself I have to do at least 20. I like riding the stationary bike, because it makes it easier to read a book while exercising, because for me gym workouts equal time to catch up on news and the book I am reading. Then I move on to light weight training. This is where the variety comes in. Each day should alternate different muscles, so one day I work the upper body, and the next day I work the lower body. I started off doing just three reps of 8, but now I can do much more. The thing I like about alternating upper and lower body is, I don’t feel like I have over worked any area. Finally, the gym workout should end with some light stretching and meditation. Believe it or not, stretching helps you improve in cardio and weight lifting too!

By following this routing, gym workouts actually see manageable and fun. For the first time in my life, I have actually enjoyed going to the gym, and for me to say that, it means a lot.

Excellent Snowboarding Conditions throughout the French Alps

February 16, 2009

There has been nearly 1.5m of snowfall in the last seven days. It has been so deep that chairlifts were closed, the railroad train was stopped at the train station in Chamonix and not going to Le Tour. Several roads have been shut and weather warnings published.

This is in direct contrast to a few winter seasons past, when we experienced the unusually warm Feb conditions, grass appearing on ski slopes, and admonitions that climate change could mean the conclusion of snowboarding in France. The OECDs study from winter 2005 predicted that global warming would make skiing far too costly for a lot of skiers, with one third of ski fields shutting and the thawing of glaciers. Experts say that it is virtually impossible to assign these seasonal deviations in the weather patterns to the effects of global warming.

We might have the worst recession in almost 25 years, and the Pound Sterling has dropped to more levels versus the euro, but the skiing is great, and the recent bookings show that people are enthusiastic to revel in the grand conditions with our ski accommodation booked. This winter is definitely the finest in seven winter seasons, and lots of skiers are stating that it is the nicest ski snowboarding conditions in 10 winter seasons.

Nonetheless recollect that lots of snow like this means significant avalanches risks.

Cisco Certification: Don’t Overreact To Exam Version Changes

February 13, 2009

Whenever a Cisco exam version changes, there’s always a lot of chatter about it on the web. The CCNA exams are no exception.

One comment I see often goes like this: ” I hear Cisco is going to change Intro / ICND / CCNA exam versions soon, so I’m not going to start studying yet. I’ll wait until the new exam comes out.”

Do not let this happen to you.

While some large publishers would have you think these exams change tremendously from one version to another (”updated for the latest exams!”), the simple fact is that the Intro, ICND, and CCNA Composite exams simply don’t change much from version to version.

Sure, the questions change. The only people who should be nervous about that are those who are trying to braindump their way to a technical certification.

The topics covered on the CCNA exams don’t change much at all. You know you’re going to have to demonstrate knowledge of LAN switching, ISDN, Frame Relay, routing protocol behavior, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Perhaps some of the more advanced topics will change, but these will be minor changes at best. Cisco announces these changes on their website well in advance , so you won’t be left with no time to study.

The only Cisco exams that might change quite a bit are the CCIE Written Qualification exams. Even there, you know what the core topics will be. Cisco’s hardly going to take BGP off the written Routing & Switching exam.

Whatever you do, don’t fall into the “version change” trap. Don’t spend $100 - $300 to hurry up and take an exam before you’re ready because of an upcoming version change.

When you’re ready, you’re ready.

Time spent learning is never wasted. Get started NOW.
